Mon Etape 4 / My Stage 4 Wadi Ad-Dawasir – Riyadh

Liaison 266 km – Spéciale 337 km – Liaison 253 km

Road link 266 km – Special 337 km – Road link 253 km

Announced as the longest stage in terms of kilometres of this Dakar 2021, this stage was not intended to exhaust the drivers. On the contrary, the emphasis was placed on the pleasure of driving.

The stage didn’t present big difficulties alternating between sinuous tracks that follow each other quickly and passages of dunes. I enjoyed myself…even if I lost 5 minutes twice at the very end of the stage to find two Way Points. I think I rode on a good rhythm and managed.

At the end of the special stage, I was surprised to find a delegation of French expatriates with whom I had made contact last year who came to encourage me. It was heartwarming to exchange a few minutes with them.

the day was not over yet. I still have to cover the 253 kms to reach the bivouac by crossing Riyadh, the capital of the country. Or how to go from a desert landscape to traffic jams at rush hour. The contrast is striking but that’s what also makes the magic of this rally and I love it!!!

Arrival at the Bivouac at 7pm, the second day of the Original By Motul biker starts after the traditional little interview with Florian. Daily maintenance on Titine: oil change, change of air filter, tightening,… RASH except this slight leak on the water pump. I called my mechanic in France but he reassured me and I will fix the problem during the rest day.

After the bike, you have to take care of the man. Shower (with cold water of course!!! the first ones benefit from the sun-heated water in the tanks), meal, an eye on tomorrow’s stage profile and off to bed as the alarm clock will ring at 5am for the stage announced as the most difficult of the rally.

Thank you again for your encouragement, it is thanks to you that I am here and the adventure continues.
